Our Program

About our program

The Centre for Indigenous Theatre is the only school of its kind in Canada. Our three & four-year full-time conservatory-style, post-secondary training prioritizes Indigenous culture; foregrounding the Indigenous theatre canon and prioritizing Indigenous knowledge, culture, language, values and practices. Students graduate with a solid understanding of western and indigenous traditions.

We are Indigenous lead for Indigenous students. Training at CIT is facilitated by faculty and masters drawn from diverse Indigenous & western instruction and practices. We have five key components enabling you, the students, to acquire and refine your skills incrementally through: core classes, specialized workshops, independent creation based on story weaving technique, mentorship, and performance.

Tuition is $3,750.00 (CAD) per year
and includes production costs and any special events.

Students are responsible for transportation to and from Toronto and living expenses in the city.
Scholarships and support programs are available for eligible students.

No qualified student is ever refused
due to a lack of funding.
